Women’s Leadership Program Cohort 8

WLP Launch event: The 8th Cohort of the Women’s Leadership Program (WLP) officially launched on October 22, 2021. The WLP is a targeted activity under the Australia Awards-Mongolia program. The WLP supports participants-male and female Mongolian nationals who hold a master’s or PhD degree from Australia-to fulfil their leadership potential and drive big ideas and reforms in their communities.

A total of twenty-two participants, two men and twenty women were selected after a rigorous selection process for Cohort 8. The majority of (54.5%) of this cohort’s participants work in the private sector, 36.4% work in the public sector and 9.1% of participants work in the INGO sector.

Participants will enhance their leadership behaviors and communication skills, learn how to create high-performing teams, understand how to use and manage networks, develop as thoughtful leaders, drive innovation, and create an authentic leadership style throughout the 8-month comprehensive leadership
and development program.

The launch event was attended by representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Mongolia-Australia Society (MOZZIES), Australia Awards-Mongolia (AAM), Zorig Foundation and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and WLP participants. Mr Dave Preston, First Secretary of the
Australian Embassy in Mongolia, Mrs. Enkhtuvshin Lunden, Country Program Manager of AAM, Walter Jenkins, President of Zorig Foundation USA, Vincent Sacriz, Development Manager at QUT officially opened the launch event by congratulating the participants and highlighting the significance of gender
equality and women’s leadership in the development of Mongolia. Following the opening remarks, the attendees not only got a chance to expand their networking cycle and had lively discussions regarding the program, but they also bonded and showed competitive spirit during the quiz night.
