Annual Reflection Workshop

Posted: 10 November 2013

Attendees of the First Annual Reflection Workshop on 30th October 2013.

The Annual Reflection Workshop was conducted on October 30th, 2013 for the first time with all key stakeholders from the Australia Awards in Mongolia; a new program that commenced on July 1st, 2013. The objectives of the workshop were to:

  • discuss and review key changes, achievements and lessons learned from the previous program, the Mongolia Australia Scholarships program (MASP), based on analysis of the implementation of program-specific issues
  • get feedback on issues important for further improvements in program management and performance
  • give input to an Annual Synthesis Report to be discussed at the Annual Strategic Review and to help with strategic guidance and decision-making to improve program delivery.

Over 20 participants from the Ministries of Education and Science, Mining, Justice, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Construction and Urban Development attended. There were also representatives from the National Committee on Gender Equality, NGOs, employers and graduates.

Attendees were provided with data and information on policy changes, key results and lessons learned from the previous program implemented between 2008 and June 2013. Participants worked in three groups to consider specific issues to improve the program. There was valuable feedback from participants, including suggestions on targeting, promotion, selection and reintegration. These will be discussed at the Annual Strategic Review in late November, involving the Governments of Mongolia and Australia.
