WLP Launch event: The 9th Cohort of the Women’s Leadership Program (WLP) officially launched on October 19, 2022. The WLP is a targeted activity under the Australia Awards – Mongolia program. The WLP supports participants-male and female Mongolian nationals who hold a master’s or Ph.D. degree from Australia to fulfill their leadership potential and drive big ideas and reforms in their communities.

A total of twenty-two participants, five male, and seventeen women were selected after a rigorous selection process for Cohort 9. The majority of (68.2%) of this cohort’s participants work in the private sector, 18.2% work in the public sector, and 13.6% of participants work in the INGO sector.

Participants will enhance their leadership behaviors and communication skills, learn how to create high-performing teams, understand how to use, and manage networks, develop as thoughtful leaders, drive innovation, and create an authentic leadership style throughout the 8-month comprehensive leadership and development program.

The launch event was attended by representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australia Awards – Mongolia (AAM), Zorig Foundation, and WLP participants and alumni. Ms. Katie Smith, Ambassador of Australia to Mongolia, Mr. U. Byambasuren, Vice Chief of the Cabinet Secretariat of Mongolia, and Ms. Enkhtuvshin Lunden, Country Program Manager of AAM officially opened the launch event by congratulating the participants and highlighting the significance of gender equality and women’s leadership in the development of Mongolia. Following the opening remarks, the attendees got a chance to expand their networking cycle and had lively discussions regarding the program.
