Australia Awards-Mongolia

Australia has provided development assistance to Mongolia for more than two decades. Long-term scholarships, providing opportunities for Mongolians to study in Australia, have been the cornerstone of this assistance. Scholarships offered under the Australia Awards are one way to address human resource needs in Mongolia and build people-to-people links.

The new phase of the Australia Awards-Mongolia commenced on 1 October 2018 with the goal of improving human capacity in targeted sectors and contributing to recognising Australia as a valuable contributor to Mongolia’s development.

Australia Awards-Mongolia operates under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Australia and Mongolia. It is managed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Each year Australia Awards-Mongolia is reviewed by a Program Coordinating Committee (PCC) that considers the activities and achievements of the past year. The PCC makes recommendations to DFAT for the following year. The PCC comprises representatives from the Government of Mongolia, Government of Australia, and stakeholder organisations.

The Australian Government values contributions from all people. It seeks equity and broad participation by all groups in society: women, men, ethnic populations, people with disabilities and people living in provinces. Everyone is encouraged to apply.

A Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework and Plan is used to measure achievements and progress towards goals and objectives. The framework provides information on the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of Australia Awards-Mongolia.
