Review Workshop

Posted: 20 October 2015

A Review Workshop for Australia Awards alumni back in Mongolia for two years after completing their study in Australia was successfully conducted on 15th October, 2015 at the Program office. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Program Officer briefed the group on Australia’s aid policy; especially possible impacts on the scholarship program in Mongolia.
Following the briefing, graduates shared experiences and gave examples of how they were applying new knowledge and skills inside and outside their workplaces. Most highlighted the importance of practical knowledge and soft skills, such as creative and critical thinking and analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, they had developed through their research, analysis and communication with lecturers.
They shared their progress in implementing Action Plans since they had returned, explaining how they addressed challenges and difficulties and came to understand the possibilities that came from the tasks in their Action Plans. Some had initiated cooperative approaches between their organizations to improve performance. This helped them use their new capacity and take advantage of networks they had developed during their study in Australia.
Some graduates wanted to build working relationships with other graduates in their work areas to share information and discuss common opportunities, challenges and needs.
After this discussion, the Human Resource Development and Partnerships Manager, outlined opportunities and options to expand networks with individuals and companies through organisations and initiatives such as Austrade, AustCham, the Women’s Leadership Program and the Mozzies. She also explained there was funding available to them through the Mozzies for professional development.
Graduates were encouraged to show initiative and approach AAM for support; an offer well-received by graduates.
